Buy Textbooks Online For Cheap!

Have you purchased college textbooks lately? Wow are they expensive or what?? The average cost of a college textbook in 1999 was around $62, and at the rate increase of 3% per year it is now around $86!
Couple that with how many books are needed per semester and it adds up quick - anywhere from five hundred to even over a thousand bucks per year - for books alone. It's no wonder that college students are a testament to the fact that one can, indeed, live off PB&J sandwiches and Ramen for long periods on end!
The sticker shock in the campus book store is not going away any time soon, either. Luckily, students are realizing they can buy textbooks online for cheap. Is it worth it though? Let's examine a few reasons why textbooks are so expensive:
  • You know the saying it takes a village to raise a child? Well, the same theory pertains to creating a college textbook...
  • The author has to research and write the material.
  • Images are needed for inclusion, and these cost money for reprint rights.
  • There's the cost of paper, ink, binding, etc...
  • And of course our favorite charge in the world (haha) - shipping and handling - and we all know how cheap (ahem) that gas has been lately!
Those are just a handful of the costs, but you get the idea. All that cost involved, and the publishers keep coming out with new editions of many books every few years. WHY?? I mean really, what happened hundreds of years ago didn't change, did it? The German language is still spoken and written in the same German as three years ago, right? And last I checked, 1 + 1 still equals 2. So why not save money buying textbooks online!?!
Check your course load, see what textbooks you need, and if you see there was a new edition that came out this year, simply talk to your professor and see if the previous version will suffice.
